Getting Started

Space Dog

Worked at Red Lobster while gaining interest in the Tech field. Dropped school during the pandeminc and did a 2 year technical IT course. While taking those courses I aquired my first job in the field. While in my last semster with that program, I got another job offer closer to home which Ive been with since 2023.

Work Environment

As a level 1 field technician, my role is to support and maintain exisiting technologies at which ever site im assigne. Not just that, but also includes surveying, configurating, manual work, and all sorts of other support based tasks.

Remote Deployments

Thanks to growing up with parents who were in trade work, i picked up various skills. My dad was the one who inspired me to tinker with electronics. He bought me my soldering kit at a young age so i could prep his boards and learn to do basic repairs on my devices. This lead to me wnating to do my DIY project, and eventually got into working with computers and networks. With my experience, when boss asked who knew something of electrical/solar. I responded with yeah i can test using a multimeter, and get you some basic circuits. With that i was put to learn how to build and deploy some solar powered systems. These deployments would usually consist of cctv and other network devices like a wireless access point to provide network connectivity to contractors onsite.

Home Lab

Thanks to work, whenever clients upgrade systems or hardware, we usually dispose of them. Typically, if it just needs to be upgraded hardware wise and its affordable, i ask the owners if i can take it home to play with. Currently I have a PROXMOX server that hosts vms and containers running services. These services include a reverse proxy using NGINX, this allows me to securely connect to my other platforms such as Nextcloud, Jellyfin, File Server, Portainer, and Vaultwarden. I have also began setting up virtual instances of issues I’ve ran into out on the field if I can replicate the issue. Plus I hope to setup a test environment for general testing.
